Implode

Implode is a strategy game.  The goal is to remove all the colored blocks from the screen.  Any time three or more blocks of the same color are touching each other (diagonal corners doesn't count), you can remove them by clicking on them.  The activity will indicate that a set of blocks can be removed by giving the set wide white borders.

Begin a new game by clicking on the star shape in the black bar at the top of the window.  The grids to the right of the black bar allow you to chose the difficulty of the game.  The screen shots below are taken from an "easy" game.  But even in an easy game, you have to think a little bit.

Notice the five yellow blocks at the left of the stack.  Move your mouse over one of them and the whole stack is highlighted with white borders indicating that they can be removed.

Click your left mouse button to remove all five yellow blocks.  The three red blocks above will drop down and connect with the two red blocks to the right of them.

It is tempting to just click on this group of red blocks but that would be a bad idea.  Notice the two red blocks in the right-most column?  If you remove the set of five red blocks on the left then these two red blocks on the right will be the only red blocks remaining.  Remember that you can only remove sets of 3 or more blocks.  So if you remove the five red blocks you will never be able to remove the last two.  So hold off for now.

Focus instead on the two block colors (orange and yellow) in the middle.  Remove them in any order.  The stacks will move together sideways to close up the gap.

Now you've joined the five red blocks on the left with the two on the right and you can finally remove them from the game.

That will cause the remaining blue blocks to join together - easy to remove with a click of the mouse button.

Game over!

Click on the star again to start a new game.  If you make a mistake along the way, click on the undo arrow to the right of the "New" game star and set of blocks you just removed will reappear.  You can undo your moves as far back as you want - all the way to the beginning of the game.  But there's an easier way to restart the same game.  Click on the double left arrow heads to start over.
