Microsoft Expedia has dropped support for it's Fare Tracker email service.  This is the service that FareWatcher (our product) relied upon.  As a result, we are no longer delivering or supporting FareWatcher.  You may instead be interested in our other travel product, FareCatcher.  FareCatcher is the big brother to FareWatcher and proactively visits the web to download the latest fare information for the trips you care about.  For more information, click here.

Note, if you heard about FareWatcher through a television or radio add, that's a different "FareWatcher".  The "other" FareWatcher is an email service much like Fare Tracker that is offered by Travelocity.   We came up with the name first but they have a bigger advertising budget!

FareWatcher, by Spitting-Image Software is a companion product to the Fare Tracker travel service offered by Microsoft's Expedia Travel Services.  Expedia's Fare Tracker is a free airfare service for Microsoft Expedia customers. [Becoming a Microsoft Expedia customer is also free.]  When you subscribe to Fare Tracker, you can specify up to three trips (i.e., fares on legs between three sets of departure and arrival airports) that you would like them to track. Then every week they'll send you an e-mail report showing the current best fares for those trips.

FareWatcher watches your incoming mail and alerts you when a fare has crossed some price threshold that you've established.  FareWatcher also displays for you in graphical format, the price history for each of your trips.  This allows you to predict when airfares may be expected to rise or fall.

  • automatically scans your incoming email (i.e., your inbox) for new Fare Tracker reports,
  • allows you to define price thresholds for each of your trips based on an absolute dollar amount or a drop of some % from the average value,
  • alerts you with a pop-up window that one or more of your Fare Tracker trips has a fare that falls below a threshold price that you've set in advance,
  • presents you with a graphical display of the price history for each of your Fare Tracker trips,
  • launches your web browser with the URL of the trip you'd like to investigate more fully.
